Have an Etched Glass Transom Made!
This customer had carpenters re-purpose some found doors. This opening formerly accommodated 8ft bifolds which were standard solid interior doors. This homeowner wanted something truly unique for her kitchens’s pantry.
The wrought iron was fitted to the opening in the upper part of the doors, most likely held in with 1/4 round moulding or metal clips. They are hinged with a pivot hinge for light weight materials. Heavier doors use a much stronger pivot hinge that is actually notched into the actual door.
The transom concept is often used on interior doors when the opening is too tall for 6’8″ doors but too short for an 8′ door. This is the perfect opportunity to add some personalization. We have also done this for exterior doors also!
What does “storehouse” mean?
A home’s pantry was formerly called “The Storehouse” since that is where food items were stored. Sounds logical. This homeowner knew this prior to her remodel project and thought that was the perfect way to accent these old doors from long ago.
Lisa’s Review:
My experience with Etched Glass Doors was Over the Moon! I live in LakeWood Ranch and I searched all over SRQ and Bradenton companies for 4 months and NO ONE could help me with a piece of Etched Glass!! I made one phone call to Terry at EGD and in one week it was ready for pick up! I would refer them to everyone because not only were they expeditious Terry is so friendly and she knew exactly what I was wanting. There is no one else in my book for Etched Glass!

Replacing a bifold door with a hinged glass door. This hallway pantry door is about as small of a prehung door as it can get.
