This interior door will be used as a barn door since it is not prehung into a frame. The frosted background gives the customer full privacy. The etched design is applied to the exterior side which allows the design to have the most contrast with the shiny unetched surface. This is how all my interior privacy doors are done.

Many others leave the design area clear and etch the background. That would not serve the customer asking for full privacy. The design shows up nicely and both the decorative and privacy objective is achieved.
