Glass Balcony Railing for a Beach House
Glass balcony railings can be beautiful with a glass insert. This homeowner used outdoor lighting to illuminate the tempered etched glass for night time enjoyment. I think LED strip lighting is embedded in the handrail in that particular section of the porch.
This could be enjoyable because you don’t have a table side or above light shining in your eyes as you sit outside in the evenings. The LED strips are useful for projects that don’t involve doors. Both the inserts themselves and the frame that holds them in the door would obstruct the light from reaching the glass. Single panes of glass with edge lighting are perfect for this application.

Here’s another example of single pane glass that could be LED backlit. It isn’t, but could be. It’s rare that I am creating single pane projects that are not doors, but people do find me. I do LOVE to do things that are different.
This is actually LAMINATED glass as opposed to TEMPERED glass. For a boat, this is much safer. I believe it is grey glass also to help control the bright light reflecting off the water.
Both these customers determined the exact size glass they needed. I ordered it and the customers themselves picked it up in Wesley Chapel. It is difficult to ship glass outside the doors since the doors themselves help protect the glass.
