Cabinet Glass with Etched Designs
Perhaps you would like cabinet glass that is not plain or with a design? This is a perfect project for etched cabinet glass designs. You may want to have most of the cabinet glass etched to hide contents, or perhaps you would like a design that personifies the contents of the cabinet. Here are a few examples of projects that have both decorative goals in mind.
Most cabinet glass is standard 1/8″ annealed glass. Clear is used when you want to have no texture behind the etched areas. Some people use textured glass to hide the contents of the cabinet and the design is applied to the outer side for decorative purposes. The textured side of the cabinet glass is mounted to the inside of the cabinet and the smooth outer side is etched in these instances.
An arch top cabinet with a traditional or transitional design. This updates the archtop style cabinet door and gives the glass door a more contemporary style than traditional arch top paneled doors.
The cabinets below utilize a technique of solid sandblast and shaded sandblast both set off with areas of clear. This gives the design 3 textures on clear smooth glass for visual interest. This is a very modern design and it can be used on doors also. This etching technique is the preferred technique to etch most designs on doors because it gives the design dimension without carving into the glass. Tempered glass is mandatory on passage doors so carving is not an option here because it will shatter. To carve regular annealed glass it must be at least 1/4″ but this is too thick for most cabinets.

Etched design on a Mirror
This is a project was an etched border design on a hall mirror. Accidentally it was broken during moving.
We created the design to duplicate the original design. She just sent over a photo and we created it and etched it on a new 1/8″ mirror.
We do not install but that was OK since they we taking the mirror out of the wood frame anyway. Just send pictures and the size and we can move forward with your project.
